Gwynn’s Island is a small, historic community located at the mouth of the Piankatank River on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay in Mathews County, Virginia. With a small year-round population of around 600 residents, you will feel the charm of a close-knit coastal community.

The Gwynn's Island swing bridge is one of the busiest moveable bridges in Virginia, opening roughly 3,000 times per year!
